Problem A WASHINGTON’S PRECEDENTS “Grace is knowing when to leave…” Washington stepped down after two terms (until 1796). All future presidents (except one) have followed this precedent.

3 Problem B WASHINGTON’S PRECEDENTS Washington set up a cabinet: a group of people who advise the president.

7 Problem C WASHINGTON’S PRECEDENTS Washington decided to remain neutral: he didn’t side with either country. The U.S. was still a young, weak nation, and could not afford to get involved in another war.

8 Problem D WASHINGTON’S PRECEDENTS Washington led an army of 12,000 to Pennsylvania and quickly stopped the Whiskey Rebellion. This showed the strength of the new government.
