Digital divide is a word that explains the difference between demographics and regions that have access to new information and communications technology, and those that don't or have limited access. This technology can include the telephone, television, personal computers and the Internet.

5. RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DIVIDE AND SOCIAL CAPITAL
Social capital can be described as the networks of correspondence between people who reside and work in a particular society, which in return allows that society to function adequately.
Social capital is about certain advantages that are achieved from the use of social networks, such as correlation, trust, co-operation and information. It allows value for people who are connected with each other.
People who engage in social media such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are encouraging the building of social capital.
Given the amount of what people absorb from online relationships, it is obvious that the digital divide would affect people’s ability to have the authority over their social capital, thereby decreasing their ability to get hold of data, information and knowledge that may help their own self esteem and the chances of furthering themselves socially, economically and professionally.

6. RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DIVIDE AND SOCIAL CAPITAL
Knowledge capital can be said to be the intangible asset that represents valuable ideas, methods, processes and other intuitive talents that belong to a company.
Some of the most sought after capital is knowledge capital.
Knowledge capital is dependant on people, not work of machines, which means companies that want to grow and maintain knowledge capital must grow and maintain talent in their employees
Given the value that knowledge capital adds to a company, it is clear that the digital divide would impact on the company’s competitive advantage, as well as the other talents a company displays.
