Community preparation is essential;
Communities in areas affected by dispersal need to have clear and honest information provided around what to expect from dispersal and from new arrivals Local authorities should take a lead in communicating with communities, local press, and elected officials to tackle concerns around dispersal Information on dispersal locations should also be provided to asylum seekers as both an orientation and to make clear what they can expect in dispersal
3
Provide forums for feedback from asylum seekers;
Feedback processes need to be clear, transparent, and disconnected from the asylum determination process Regular forums in which feedback can be offered collectively can be one means to reflect the views of asylum seekers Independent oversight and scrutiny of accommodation standards and services is also required Requires expertise from housing staff and the time to develop relationships of trust and respect
