2 Introduction The American Revolution took place between the years 1775 and1783 This war ended almost two centuries of British rule in the North American colonies. America later defeated the British in 1783, ending the American Revolution. The colonists won their independence from the Britian rule.

4 Significant Person from the American Side
One significant person was George Washington. He was a legendary military leader.

5 Significant Person from the British Side
One Significant person was John Burgoyne. He was a British army officer who led the British in to was with the thirteen American colonies.

6 Turning Point: The Battle of Lexington and Concord
This battle was one of the most known battles of The United States history. This battle is where the colonial militia was attacked by 700 British troops. First shots fired between American and British troops, on April 19, The British chose to march to Concord because it was an arms depot. This meant that the Americans had stockpiled weapons there. British troops had occupied Boston and were marching on Concord as they passed through Lexington. No one is still sure who fired first, but it was known the "Shot Heard 'Round the World." Both sides opened fire, and the Americans were forced to withdraw. But they had slowed the British advance. By the time the Redcoats got to Concord, the Americans were waiting for them in force. The weapons depot was saved, and the British were forced to retreat, harassed by militia men along the way. The skirmishes were preceded by Paul Revere's famous ride, warning the countryside: "The British are Coming!"

7 Life on the Home Front The Revolutionary War affected life on the home front greatly. Many women ran the stores, farmed, and did jobs that a man would do when they went to war.

8 Final Resoluton: Peace Treaty
The colonies and the British decided to end war with a peace treaty. They signed the Treaty of Paris April 15, 1783. Even though the king wanted to keep fighting, Parliament had voted over him

9 Major Effects of the War
The United States created a stronger government. Created a nation of 13 independent states Other countries used America’s example and tried to gain freedom. The French used the Declaration of Independence to write their own document of freedom
