Early Years Banks Banks began to fail.
People began withdraw their savings. Banks resorted to other economic means or closed. No government insurance for people. Businesses Gross national Product cut in half Many went bankrupt Millions lost their jobs

Private Charities helped poor Americans Soup kitchens and breadlines started to form soon became overwhelmed with limited food supply.

Women found jobs to support family most were older and married wages still low easier to find jobs

Rise in hobos emerged during G.D Mostly consisted of teenage boys and girls took the life of a Hobo for various reasons. burden to family stress and struggle adventure to find work. Many came across “bulls” Many were killed.

Hoovervilles Many people lived in shanty towns
located all over the country anything was used as shelter. size of shacks varied. Hoovers name was put on anything due to ridicule.

Some struggled greatly suicide rates rose Many walked away families had to make sacrifices. cut health visits No higher education gave up marriage Many saved things, especially money.
