Eurostat publications
Standard tables to be published on Eurostat website along with: 1) Three publications presenting the main results of the survey, quarter : Main features of the entry of young people into the labour market in 2009; Transition of young people in higher education; Transition of persons with lower secondary education (with a focus on early leavers from education and training). 2) Two “Statistics explained” (web article), quarter : on employment rates of young people a few years after graduation (based on annual EU-LFS results); on EU statistics related to transition (employment rates after graduation) to advise on the use of LFS annual and ad-hoc module data for analysis, presented in the Conference organised by CRELL on 20/21 June “Catch the Train: Skills, Education and Jobs".

CEDEFOP publications and analyses
Three main publications foreseen: The labour market outcomes of VET: patterns and characteristics in Europe, quarter 4 Labour market transitions following VET: matching skills, finding jobs and moving between jobs; 2012 quarter 1 Cedefop Research Paper, December 2012 Based on a detailed review of the variable HATVOC: At EU level: results of 2009 LFS module, including approaches to implementation/collection/derivation of the variable across countries with a view to future improvements in international comparability. At OECD level: support to the work on 'learning and labour transitions' for the OECD INES network on Labour and Social Outcomes of learning (LSO)

Validation of the main results from the module
Focus on the: date when leaving formal education for the last time; date when starting the first significant job; orientation of highest educational programme completed (educational attainment). Based on: A set of control tables (similar to annexes). An evaluation report presenting the main features of the module (quality report) with a focus on difficulties and comparability aspects. Feedback from countries on the main issues (see next slide) Material distributed to the ETS Working Group by the end of May.

Main issues encountered
Dates when starting the first job: Need to focus on persons leaving education within the last 5 years; More elements to be communicated along with the control tables (5): people leaving in the last 5 years (T): All people aged 15-34

The ETS delegates are invited to:
Take note on the publication plan and comment on the topics proposed; Provide further information on comparability and quality of results especially on the date when starting the first job (confirm approach to restrict the main results on the last 5 years) and on the date when leaving education for the last time Confirm the approach towards a variable on orientation of education attainment in the regular LFS, i.e variable to be derived from national LFS data (more information to be provided in the ISCED workshop of Dec on the basis of annex 2 for Circa’s document for this item) implementation date to be discussed along with implementation of ISCED 2011.
