Art Process- action involved in making art Aesthetics-branch of philosophy used to identify criteria used to understand, judge and defend judgements Art Critics- examine works of art Art Historians- seek objective facts about artists

Artists use these to express ideas

intensity (brightness)
Color Hue (name) intensity (brightness) value (light and dark)

Value a range from highlight (the brightest highlight being white) to shadow (the darkest being black) and all of the tones in between.

Line Continuous mark made on a surface by a moving point

Texture The way things feel or look as if they might feel

Shape Shapes are everywhere. More common ones are given names such as circle or square. There are an infinite amount of shape possibilities and combinations.

Form Forms are often called the "three-dimensional shapes". Unlike flat, two-dimensional areas, Forms are represented as "three-dimensional". 3D objects 2 types of form: Mass- outside size and bulk of form Volume-space within the form

Space Distance or area between, around, above, below or within a work of art Can be either 2D or 3D
