Thematic Group 3: Theme 2 – Standardisation in CBRN-E Dr. Janet BLATNY (FFI, NO) Janet is Director of the Protection and Societal Security Division of FFI (Forsvarets Forskningsinstitutt). She holds a PhD degree in biotechnology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). Her areas of expertise include biotechnology and microbial genetics. Through her extensive international network within the EU and NATO, Janet has established several collaboration projects between FFI and various military and civilian participants within the areas of societal security, preparedness, and threat assessment. Thematic Group 3: Theme 2 – Standardisation in CBRN-E Clive GOODCHILD (BAE Systems, UK) Clive is Technology Planning Manager at BAE Systems. He represents an industry perspective for this session. He has been involved in several EU-funded projects and presently is active in the coordination of ENCIRCLE and OPTICS2 H2020 projects. Primarily in the context of the ENCIRCLE project, Clive will explain the belief on the needs for standards to improve civil protection interoperability and integration and the needs to ensure standards are developed quickly and appropriate without duplication. 5 Theme 2 – Standardisation in CBRN-E
Thematic Group 3: Theme 2 – Standardisation in CBRN-E Spyros KINTZIOS (Ministry. Defence, GR). Spyros is Commander in the Ministry of National Defence, Greece and a naval engineer. He holds a Master of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering by National Technical University of Athens, in the area of maritime transport. He also holds a Diploma In Negotiations by Athens University of Economics and Business. After several years of service, he became actively involved in research projects, in particular in EDA forum, Alliance Working Groups concerning security and defence topics. Spyros is co-author in articles concerning Crisis Management Response Systems and is actively involved in HORIZON 2020 projects including CIVILnEXt, MARISA and RANGER. He is about to start 2 new projects, RESILOC and INCLUDING. Spyros will give a Practitioners view regarding standardisation in the area of crisis management with inputs gathered from various projects in which he participated. Thematic Group 3: Theme 2 – Standardisation in CBRN-E Samantha LIM THIEBOT (INERIS, FR). Samantha is a “global security” coordinator at the Accident Risks Division at INERIS since She started her career at INERIS in 2002 working on learning from experience issues and on safety of emerging technologies such as the use of hydrogen as energy vector and CO2 storage. For the past ten years, she contributed to several national and European projects linked to the security of critical infrastructures and especially of chemical sites. She was also in charge of the H24 Emergency Decision Support Unit program to assist French fire brigades and inspectors of classified installations. Samantha will share with us her views on standardization inputs to structures of the CBRN market and harmonize practices by enforcing a minimum level of requirements. Samantha will discuss labelling and certification as another way through common and shared practices.
