Europe is the planet's 6th largest continent Includes 47 countries and assorted dependencies, and islands

4 Is Europe a Continent? Europe is really not a continent, but part of the peninsula of Eurasia which includes all of Europe and Asia. However, we still refer to it as an individual continent

5 Four Major Physical Regions of Europe
Europe can be divided into four major physical regions: Western Uplands North European Plain, Central Uplands Alpine Mountains.

6 Western Uplands Curve up the western edge of Europe of Scandinavia, Finland, Iceland, Scotland, Ireland hard, ancient rock was shaped by glaciation which is the process of land being transformed by glaciers or ice sheets.

7 North European Plain Extends from the southern United Kingdom east to Russia. climate supports a wide variety of seasonal crops. Most densely populated region of Europe.

8 Central Uplands Extend east-west across central Europe heavily wooded
the Black Forest in Germany. Sparsely populated except in the river valleys.

9 Alpine Mountains Include ranges in the Italian and Balkan peninsulas, northern Spain, and southern France. Formed as the African and Eurasian tectonic plates collided The highest and most extensive mountain range system that lies entirely in Europe

The Vatican is Europe's smallest country by size and by population

11 Europe's largest country by population
Germany is Europe's largest country by population
