Homework Folder Homework
Yellow folders are homework folders. Check the assignment calendar and Google Classroom as needed. Homework

Approximately 30 minutes of homework per night your child’s advisory teacher if your child is spending more than one hour doing homework each evening If a student has a question, please encourage him/her to contact the teacher or come early to school for help.

A: Grades are posted in our online gradebook Skyward.
Directions for accessing Skyward were mailed to your home in a hot pink envelope over the summer.

Q: How are TAG students pulled out of the classroom? A: TAG math meets daily. Explorations students are pulled from SS classes for two class periods a week.

A: Students really don’t use other than to log in to school sites and apps. We use Google Classroom almost daily and students learn how to set this up at school.

A: Morning Office Hours
A: All teachers have specific mornings set aside for office hours. This information is posted on our MIS homepage. Advisory is also a great time for your child to ask questions about homework or class content.

Parent Conferences Conference time: 10:00-10:30AM
By appointment only. All teachers attend each conference. Contact advisory teacher if you wish to set up a conference.

Technology Computers are available in the library at 7:30 AM
Chromebooks are available in each advisory classroom. All personal chromebooks and ipads should be left at home. Kindles are allowed.

Speaking of cell phones:
Cell phones are not to be turned on inside the building. Upon arrival, students will place their phones in cell phone parking until the end of advisory each day. The phone will remain OFF until they walk outside. If you need to get a message to your student, please contact Tina Nettleton. She will deliver the message to your child.

Email Distribution List
Get on the list! Go to hpisd.org, click on "MyHPOnline" and follow the directions henceforth. You can add or delete your name to and from any e-group list you choose.

Absences Please notify the 5/6 office (not the teachers) if your child will be absent from school. If sick, your child must be fever- free without medication for 24 hours before returning to school.

Absences Work for your student may be requested only if he/she is absent for three or more days. Students have as many days to make up missed work as they were absent. Upon return to school, students should bring a note to the office.

After-school arrangements
If you have an urgent message for your child (carpool changes, doctor’s appointments etc), please notify Tina Nettleton in the office. She will be sure your child gets the message. Please do NOT rely on teachers to deliver the message.

Building Access Students who arrive before 7:30AM must enter the building through the back door next to the cafeteria 5th grade door opens at 7:30AM
