golden age Definition: a period of great happiness, prosperity and achievement Sentence: The relatively peaceful times, as well as the Gupta empire's stability, encouraged growth in both the arts and the sciences which resulted in a golden age.

prosperity Definition: a situation of wealth and success
Sentence: Many historians have called the Gupta Empire as the golden age, which is a time of great prosperity.

achievement Definition: a positive result gained by hard work
Sentence: A number of advances in the arts and sciences occurred during the peaceful golden age of the Gupta Empire. Many of these achievements have left a lasting mark on the world.

alliances Definition: a bond between families, states, or other groups to further their common interests Sentence: The Guptas also formed some alliances by arranging marriages between members of their family and the sons and daughters of other rulers.

provinces Definition: a territory that is part of a country or an empire Sentence: in the Gupta Empire each province was ruled by a royal governor. Within the provinces, town leaders could make many of their own decisions.
