1 CCP Information Night April 5, 2019

2 Step 1: Apply to Columbus State
Students will receive an confirmation once application has been submitted will provide student’s Cougar ID number and directions on how to complete the admissions process (this process takes approximately 5 days) Check spam filters as some CSCC s go directly to spam (gmail and yahoo accounts) Students can discover their Cougar ID online Important note: Columbus State is an open admission institution. All students who apply to Columbus State gain admission to the college. However, students must meet course prerequisites to take classes. Students who do not met course prerequisites will not be eligible to take certain courses.

3 Application Tips Apply with your full legal name (No Nicknames!)
Use an address that you check regularly and accepts outside s Do not wait until the last minute to apply Students who apply late may not complete the admissions process in time to get the classes they desire (especially online and on-campus courses) Students should have autumn semester courses scheduled prior to summer vacation to ensure they secure a seat in their desired courses

4 2018 -2019 Application Deadlines

5 Step 2: Take Placement tests or submit ACT/SAT scores
Students must complete this step in order to be eligible to register for any course at CSCC (this includes courses taught in the high school) Students can send their official ACT or SAT scores directly to CSCC by using the following code: 3261 Students can opt to take the college placement tests if ACT or SAT scores do not meet benchmark standards or have not yet taken those tests SAT Benchmark Evidence-based Reading and English: 490 or higher ACT Benchmarks English 18 or higher Reading 22 or higher

6 Step 3: Register For Classes Classes Taught in the High School
Students register for high school based courses with their school counselor Students must follow the rules and guidelines set forth by their high school Schools submit official rosters of courses to Columbus State for registration This typically happens 2 weeks prior to the start of a given semester

7 Step 3: Register For Classes Online or On-Campus Courses
Columbus State does not permit CCP students to register for classes online Students wishing to register for a course taught online or at one of the CSCC campuses must register via their CCP Advisor Course requests must be submitted by completing an Advising and Registration Request Form. Form requires a parent/guardian signature and a school counselor signature
