The Word

John 1:1-2 (NIV84) 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning.

The Word

John 1:3 (NIV84) 3 Through Him (the Word,) all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made.

He created the universe!

John 1:14 (NIV84) 14 The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

1. Who Jesus is … The Word 2. Why Jesus came … to live among us

John 1:4-5 (NIV84) 4 In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.

John 1:6-8 (NIV84) 6 There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.

1. Who Jesus is … The Word 2. Why Jesus came … to live among us 3
1. Who Jesus is … The Word 2. Why Jesus came … to live among us 3. How He imparts His life …

John 1:14 (NIV84) 14 The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Do you realize how big a deal it is that Jesus, the Son of God, took on human flesh?

God’s act of creation which had been marred by sin and thus estranged His creation from Him was brought back into harmony through His act of redemption of His fallen creation.

“The incarnation is a mightier act of God than His creation of the whole universe.”

Christ came to live among us, to dwell within us
Christ came to live among us, to dwell within us. And He imparts to us His grace and truth.

What have we done with God’s gift to us, His Son, Jesus Christ?

John 1:9-13 (NIV84) 9 The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. 11 He came to that which was His own, but His own did not receive Him. 12 Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

Christ the Word that became flesh in order that He might be born in us so that we would be miraculously born of God.

Have you come to know this Jesus?

John 1:14 (NIV84) 14 The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
