Reading Your child will be expected to read at least 20 minutes a night. This expectation may change due to the changing needs of the students. There will be a reading log within the homework that will reinforce the skills that are being taught at that time. Please review this log with your child. Reading with your child is a great way to end the day and it helps them increase their reading stamina. This year we will be monitoring your child’s reading progress through several means: Reading groups, Read A-louds, ISIP (reading program that monitors and assesses each student’s reading progress), and through student-to-teacher reading. Reading skills will be taught through direct teaching, centers, and guided reading groups.
