Preliminaries What does it mean to be impartial? Why should good readers be impartial while they read? Write at least 3 sentences. 10 classwork pts.

Objectives: The students will be able to read and respond to works of literature with emphasis on comprehension… (PA Standard 1.3) The students will be able to set a purpose for their reading through pre-reading. The students will be able to self-monitor their comprehension through the use of reading logs.

Focus Lesson: Setting…
Small Groups Divide into pairs or groups of 3. Turn to page 3 of Trino’s Choice. Read only the first sentence of each paragraph to page 9. Write 3 questions you want answered as a result of this reading. Class Reading Read aloud. Stop and reflect every 2 pages. More Small Groups: as above but independently Reading Logs: answers to questions
