Columbus reaches the Bahamas and meets the peaceful Arawaks. He thinks he is in India so he calls them Indians. He trades with them to get their gold for Spain (they have a LOT) He conquers the Caribbean islands for Spain. Think about what languages are spoken in different areas. Why do you think this is the case? Who governed the areas? De Champlain reaches modern day Quebec and works well with the native population establishing a very profitable fur trading system for France. The marriage of Pocahontas to John Rolfe helped the British to create a very profitable tobacco industry. Explorers reach the Americas

Spain provides the money for some of the biggest explorations. Most Central and South Americans speak Spanish. Brazil is the exception. Why? The primary religion is Roman Catholic. Why? The architecture in the Americans is very similar to that of Europe. How did this influence happen? Each of the choices has a long history of amazing contributions to the Renaissance, the Age of Exploration and the Reformation. These three periods changed the world as it was known. It became larger, more thoughtful, a bit rebellious and ultimately led to almost all of the modern advancements we enjoy.
