Using Common Measures Use Common Measures When Your Program Meets the Following Criteria: Educational Programming Such as: Spark Clubs Teens as Teachers Workshops If programming occurred at a school, received permission from administrator to use surveys Grades 4-12 Minimum of 6 contact hours

Distribute Survey Submit Survey Request Report Common Measures is an IRB approved research protocol Why? Protect youth survey responses Establish unified survey distribution process Grant funding agencies require approval All Extension Educators Must be CITI certified: Valid for 5 yrs Recertification required

(Grades) What are the learning outcomes? “By the end of this program, the youth will have learned/demonstrated/achieved…” Knowledge, skills, values, abilities Different from the end product What programming questions do I want answered? What they already know? What they want to know? What they need to know? Will I need to use multiple surveys and multiple time points?
