New App Feature: Barcode Display
Available in both Android and iOS Pulls number directly from account and requires password (so more secure than other barcode apps) If library barcode scanner doesn’t work, staff should type in the number as displayed

No immediate consensus. Testing of inexpensive padded envelopes is underway – will report at the next meeting. More information in the meeting handouts.

Student Card Working Group Report
Summary: School and Library will sign an MOU. Parents will opt-in via the Parent Portal. The school district’s vendor will store the opt-in information and export it, along with student data, to PINES. PINES will develop a script that converts that data into new accounts. Accounts will be immediately usable.

Notes: Account number will be based on library policy name plus unique number provided by school district (eg, student id / student lunch card number) Password will be based on student DOB When student comes to library, student may either use school district-issued card or may be issued a PINES card Parents only need to opt in once, may opt out at any time

Notes: Students who are not attending a registered school are eligible for a Student Card through a normal library card application process Duplicate checking will not be performed Expiration of 1 year Schools will upload information each year to renew cards
