Build up of fatty materials on the inside of arteries atherosclerosis Wall thickens as a result of the buildup, blood flow is restricted, allowing some parts of the body to not get enough oxygen.

HEART ATTACK Buildup of fatty materials in the coronary arteries will block blood flow to the heart and cause a heart attack.

STROKE Build up of fatty materials in the arteries leading to the brain causes a stroke. Stroke can also be caused by a burst blood vessel

HYPERTENSION Hypertension high blood pressure
Greater than 140/90 (Normal is 120/80) Heart needs to work harder to get blood to the body through the vessels. Damaging to blood vessels Can lead to/ Is related to heart attack, kidney failure, stroke

SICKLE-CELL ANEMIA Genetic disease where a persons red blood cells are misshaped. The cells cannot carry oxygen and don’t fit through small arteries and veins.

HEMOPHILIA Blood clotting disease.
People don’t have a blood clotting factor (fibrin) Blood will not clot.

BRUISE Also called a contusion.
Broken capillaries from extreme pressure. Blood leaks and pools forming the colored spot on your body.
