4 Medical Benevolence Foundation (MBF)
MBF is a Christian, non-profit organization dedicated to transforming lives by working alongside the indigenous church in less resourced countries to build sustainable medical ministries and share the Gospel.

5 Why the Mary K Center MBF believes one of the strategies with greatest potential for strengthening health systems and improving the health of those living in the most vulnerable countries, is to focus on building a well-trained and empowered nursing workforce.

6 Mission of the Mary K Center
To work collaboratively to: improve nursing education advance nursing practice empower nurses in low-resourced countries to serve as leaders in improving the quality of and access to health care in their countries

7 Why Nursing Leadership
Nurses and midwives represent majority of global healthcare workforce Global shortfall of 9 million nurses & midwives by 2030 Nurses and midwives are closest to the community and play critical role in promoting health, preventing disease as well as providing care and treatment

3 year campaign launched Feb 2018 by WHO and ICN Nurses too often undervalued and their contributions underestimated Increased complexity and burden of healthcare needs of 21st century Improve health and access to healthcare globally by raising profile and status of nurses worldwide; include in policy and decision making

Goals Create sustainable, locally led model for conference series in partner countries Bring together variety of experience in clinical leadership, nursing education, government and the Church Explore current leadership theory Introduce practices of exemplary leaders Foster collaboration to grow future leaders
