In your Reading Groups, please give a summary of each novel read…each member should give a summary of the novel (at least add information if reading the same book).

2. Analyzing CONFLICT…
Analyze the type of conflict in each novel. How is it developed? How is the conflict connected to the plot/theme/purpose? Why did your author create that type of conflict?

3. Characterization
Choose one person/character. First, explain HOW the person changes throughout the text. Then, explain WHY you think the author developed the person in this way.

4. SETTING…one scene
Analyze the impact of one setting in the novel. WHY did the author choose this setting? HOW does it affect the people, plot, and theme? Explain.

5. SYMBOLISM
Identify and explain the major symbols in the text. What does each symbol represent? Why is each symbol important? Explain.

6. THEME
Explain one theme of the text. Then, explain HOW the author develops this theme.

7. ANALYZING KEY QUOTES
Choose one quote that you believe is important to the text as a whole (record each quote). Each group member should choose a different quote. ONLY Explain the significance of your quote, and then discuss the various quotes within your group.

8. NARRATOR/POINT OF VIEW
Analyze the author’s choice of the narrator/point of view. Why do you think the author chose this narrator/point of view? How does the narrator/point of view impact the story? Explain.
