It is based on the Mission Model Reference Tables that IOAG member and observer agencies provide voluntarily and, typically, update on an annual or biennial basis. Some missions involve several space agencies, such as the International Space Station (ISS). Thus the same mission may appear under several agencies and, sometimes, may even show different dates and/or status (whether in operation, in development, or proposed) depending when each agency last updated the information it provides to the IOAG. Also, a mission may include a series of spacecraft launched over time (e.g. JAXA’s HTV cargo resupply missions to ISS), or a constellation of spacecraft (e.g. NASA’s Magnetospheric Multi-Scale mission which consists of four spacecraft flying in formation).
