What is a CCOT? CCOT means continuities and changes over time
A CCOT essay asks you examine and analyze changes and explain continuities in one or more regions of the world over one of the course’s time periods.

Two Phases of CCOT Continuities Changes
What didn’t change during the time period? Why? Changes Identify the major relevant developments that occur between baseline and endpoint. Keep in mind that change relatively rarely proceeds smoothly; there are interruptions, even setbacks

Here is a writing prompt for a CCOT:
Describe and analyze the ways that the Industrial Revolution transformed ONE of the following regions between 1750 and Be sure to discuss the continuities as well as the changes: England Japan Russia

When you write a CCOT Essay, make sure you complete the following tasks:

In your thesis include the dates or time period:
For example: “Between and 1914…….”

Include the region or country you chose
For Example: “Between 1750 and 1914 the Industrial Revolution impacted England….”

Tell what changed and what stayed the same using the PERSIAN categories you chose.
For Example: “ Between 1750 and 1914, the Industrial Revolution impacted England through the emergence of new technology and the development of new economic systems, but the division of distinct social classes remained the same.”
