What is ACEA and what does it do?
ACEA is the Advisory Committee on Environmental Aspects ACEA advises, guides and coordinates IEC work on environmental topics (excluding EMC and energy efficiency) ACEA activities are focused on aspects such as eco-design, environmental labelling and declarations, substance management, end-of-life treatment, material efficiency and the circular economy ACEA writes guides (not standards, which is the role of TC/SC/SyCs) IEC Guide 109: Environmental aspects ACEA representatives: from TC/SC/SyCs and NCs ACEA reports to SMB

When to contact ACEA? When you need help to coordinate IEC work on matters that (can) have an impact on the environment to ensure consistency and avoid duplication / conflict in IEC standards When you need support in coordinating activities or solving issues related to environmental matters in your TC/SC/SyC , across IEC TC/SC/SyCs or between IEC TC/SC/SyCs and other SDOs Examples of coordination Case 1: Co-development of substance test methods between IEC TC 111/WG 3 and ISO TC 61/SC 5/WG 11 Case 2: Guidelines for harmonization of definition of “halogen content” (today, different definitions in different committees)

ACEA membership TC/SC/SyCs that include in their standards aspects associated with the environment are invited to become members of ACEA Want to know more about ACEA? TC/SC/SyCs who want to know more are welcome to request attendance as guest at an ACEA meeting. Please contact the ACEA Chair and/or Secretary for more information. Want to become a member of ACEA? TC/SC/SyC P-member decision to nominate a representative Send the decision, name of representative and her/his CV to the ACEA secretariat ACEA secretariat organizes approval by the SMB
