4 Various Part Time Work Models
Academic Advising 50/50 Time (“job sharing” arrangement, full benefits, accrue annual and sick leave at 50% rate) Each work 20 hours/week Split student case load evenly One advisor is always available for RamWelcome, CSU Visit Days, and mid-year orientations Divide summer orientation sessions evenly Work on different days of the week so one ASC is in the office every day Overlap on Wednesday mornings for CLA staff meetings and meeting with each other Share office space; one of us works in the computer lab if we are here on the same day Communication is accomplished through meetings, , and texting or phone calls 3:45-4:00 (Marjorie) Highlight various models of part time work (including ours) Academic Advising Models

Carry full time student caseload Has every other Friday off each week Back up ASC covers on day main ASC is gone 75% Time Works hours days Office is used by a career counselor on off day

Career Services Manager of Career Resources – 50% time position, permanent, full benefits, accrue annual and sick leave at 50% rate Career Services also has various part-time, non-student hourly positions within different colleges. Benefits: manage budget, meet diverse student needs, and maintain flexibility for employees Other models at CSU – Career Services with variety of positions

7 Various Part Time Work Models
Student Leadership, Involvement and Community Engagement (SLiCE) office Assistant Director Position (87.5% time) Schedule: Works 35 hours, 4 days per week (working late one day) Responsibilities: Supervision, teaching and advising High contact with students and supervisees Benefits: Manage needs of family, living values, flexibility in schedule Challenges: Less money, less availability (helps to set boundaries) Other models at CSU – Student Affairs (Slice) with supervisory and teaching responsibilities

8 Various Part Time Work Models
Hybrid Part Time Position (Academic Department and Student Affairs) Grant Program Coordinator and Academic Advisor (50% time, permanent, full benefits, accrue annual and sick leave at 50% rate) Responsibilities: Manage grant program within the department specifically for FRCC students interested in majoring in the Natural Science at CSU, support students in transfer process and academic advising. Multi-department work: Works jointly with admissions, orientation/transition programs, and student success initiatives at CSU and also with the Student Success Coach for the Bridges to Baccalaureate program at FRCC. Other models at CSU – Academic Department, Student Affairs and FRCC

9 Challenges & Tips Communication Relationship with department
