2. Student Behaviors Be prompt Be prepared
Be ready to learn when class begins.

Speak in a normal tone of voice, and listen attentively.

Correct problems quickly and peacefully before they escalate.

3. Show Respect
Value yourself. Be honest and ethical, and practice strong moral values.
Treat all members of the school community and all visitors with politeness and respect.
Honor the ideas and opinions of others.
Offer to help.
Be responsible with property and belongings.
Know my policies and procedures; understand the power of personal value: if you value yourself, you will value others and why policies and procedures are important.

4. Responsibility for Coursework
Bring binder with loose leaf, highlighters, planner, and appropriate writing tools to class DAILY.
Know due dates, and submit all coursework on time.
All assignments are posted on the board and on the class Web site.
We work from bell to bell.

5. Materials Needed: Here is what you need for my class:
Binder with pockets (2-3 inches).
5 dividers.
Loose leaf.
Highlighters (1 pack multi-colored).
Red pen, blue or black pen, pencils.
Composition notebook

6. Policies
Food and beverages are not allowed in the classroom. Water is the only beverage allowed.
When entering the class, go directly to your seat and begin SSR and Bell Ringer. Check board for agenda and upcoming due dates. Never do we just sit and talk until the tardy bell.
You must have your I.D. on when you enter the classroom. If you do not, you will remain in the hallway until you put it on. If you do not have your I.D. at all, you will be sent to the library to receive a temporary and a discipline.
Sign out when leaving class; sign in when returning; always have your planner to leave the room – it is your hall pass.
If you are absent, check the folders in the front of the classroom; check with teacher for make-up work
Always remain SILENT during announcements and broadcast.
We work from bell to bell. We will remain seated until the bell rings. THE BELL DOES NOT DISMISS YOU. I dismiss you. NEVER will we line up and wait or just stand around and wait for the bell to ring.

7. CONSEQUENCES FIRST WARNING: your name goes on the board
SECOND WARNING: you receive a check mark
LUNCH DETENTION and PARENT CONTACT: two check marks
RESEPECT ESSAY: behavior still continues
REFERRAL: final consequence

8. Grading READING: Grades are based on the accumulation of points.
Points are based on:
READING:
90% Tests, Projects, Bell Ringers,
Writing Assignments, and Activities
10% Interim Assessments
POLICIES ON GRADING AND ASSIGNMENTS
Major assignments and projects can be turned in after the deadline. You have 5 days to turn it in late; HOWEVER, you will lose 5% of your grade each day it is late. If you do not turn in three assignments worth 50 points or more, you must attend a content-specific tutoring session (unless it is an elective/PE class, then the tutoring day does not matter) called Credit Recovery and complete it in this environment. 
NEVER GET A ZERO!!!
Our Grading Scale
93-100% = A
85-92% = B
75-84% = C
67-74% = D
66%-Below = F
Grades are calculated on cumulative percentage

9. CREDIT RECOVERY
Not turning in work/Credit Recovery (ELA, math, science, and social studies only):
If you do not complete an assignment that is worth 50 points or more, you will have 5 additional days to turn the assignment in.  You will lose 5% of the overall grade each day that the assignment is late.
If you do not turn in three assignments worth 50 points or more, you must attend a Credit Recovery, which is held for one hour after school in the library, to complete the assignment. 
If you do not attend Credit Recovery, an administrator will conference with the student and contact your parent.
Assignment Redos/Test Retakes
If you make a C or below on an assignment worth 50 points or more and would like to make a second attempt for a higher grade, you will need to fill out a request form.
If you make a C or lower on a test and would like to retake the assessment for a higher grade, you must fill out a request form.  Each teacher will determine when the Test Retake date will be for that particular class.

10. Lunch Procedures
When you come back from lunch, and I am not in the classroom, you must line up against the wall and wait for me to get there. NO ONE ENTERS THE CLASS WHEN I AM NOT THERE.
If you need to pay lunch money, you turn it in when you get in the cafeteria. There is a box in which you place your money. NO MONEY COMES TO ME.

11. LIBRARY PROCEDURES We go to the library once a week.
This library time is used to LEARN as well as check out and return books.
When we do go to the library, we will do the following:
We will walk together. You WILL NOT ENTER THE LIBRARY WITHOUT ME – EVER!!
Quiet voices are used once we are in there
The Library is NEVER a place to socialize. It is a valuable resource for you to learn and work.

12. FIRE DRILLS When we have a fire drill, you will do the following:
LEAVE THE ROOM QUIETLY
Try to stay with me. We will walk to a designated area in the front parking lot.
Once we reach the designated area, LOOK FOR ME. GET TO ME. FORM A SINGLE FILE LINE and BEHAVE!!!!! If you are not in my line when I take roll, you will receive a lunch detention for not following procedure. END OF DISCUSSION.
We walk back to class together. If you are not in class when I am ready to begin, you will receive a lunch detention. END OF DISCUSSION.

13. LOCKDOWN DRILL
You will sit QUIETLY while I lock the door and cover the door window.
You will here someone trying to open the door, but you will still sit QUIETLY.
WE WILL ALL SIT QUIETLY UNTIL THEY TELL US IT IS OVER. Those who cannot follow the quite rule will receive a consequence.
If you are in the restroom, library, or hallway of another building
Bathroom: STAY IN AND LOCK THE BATHROOM DOOR
Library: follow the library procedures
Hallway: a teacher will put you in his/her class until lockdown is over.
