Reading/Writing Workshop Week #1 Day 2 BOTH GROUPS: Staple the new strategy ½ sheet ON TOP OF yesterday’s strategy sheet. READERS: Complete the 1st Read Section on your Close Notes Chart (from yesterday). When you finish this, review the reader instructions (1/2 sheet) and complete all steps. WRITERS: Complete the 1st Read Section on your Close Notes Chart (from yesterday).

Readers’ Instructions
Readers’ Strategy: Readers’ Instructions P – What is the purpose for you to read this? Answer – The purpose of reading this text is too strengthen your reading comprehension skills and to prepare you for the Georgia Milestones assessment, as well as for 7th grade. P – Preview the text – Look at the title, subtitles, word count, number of pages, graphics, letter size, etc. A - Actively read while annotating. R – Respond – Answer questions, create model, verbally respond in whole-group discussion or small-group discussion. R – Reflect – Look at what you have learned. Reflect on how it impacts you now, as well as how it will impact you in the future. Step 5 – Finish the 1st read section on your Close Note Chart (from yesterday). Step 6 – Complete the first task (located on page 29). Step 7 – Answer questions 2 and 3 when you finish reading page 31. Step 8 – Continue reading. Wait to answer question 4 with a partner later. Complete question 5 on your own now. Step 9 – Continue reading. Answer question 6 and the short response on page 34. Step 10 – Complete your P.P.A.R.R. bookmark.

Step 7 – Answer the 1st B.C.R. using R.A.C.E.S. – What should people know about tornadoes? Step 8 –Complete questions 1, 2, 4, 5, & 6 on pages of your packet. Be sure to follow all steps for number 6. Step 9 – Answer the 2nd B.C.R. using R.A.C.E.S. – In what ways are tornadoes and hurricanes alike and different? P- Preview the text. Look at the length, title, subtitles, and graphics. Q- Highlight all of the question(s) in the packet. T- Highlight each topic.
