ALL the things we do in our communities, or ALMOST all, will fall in one or more of these. Use them to answer “What does Rotary do?” and use your own projects! 3

4 OUR ROTARY FOUNDATION #1 Priority? OK, what IS Rotary’s #1 priority?

5 OUR ROTARY FOUNDATION YES!!! End Polio!! ERADICATE it!!! This has not been a good year so far.

6 POLIO CASES – Nov 2013-Apr 2014 Here are the cases in the last 6 months. Where do you see the cases? Yes, mostly in the areas with active conflicts, Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas (particularly North Waziristan) with 61 cases where there were 8, and far north Nigeria. THE GOOD NEWS!! Nigeria has had 3 cases so far in 2014, compared to 22 by this time last year!!! THEY are making progress! 6

7 OUR ROTARY FOUNDATION THE GOAL: ERADICATION!!

Clubs are being asked to commit to $1500, which The Gates Foundation will then match with $3000!!! This pledge is good for 5 years, as their commitment to get us to the END.

Some of these took place in the US! There are a number of projects currently active, 6-8, some with assistance of other Districts that were Pilots for Future Vision. And here are the plans we know of so far for the next Rotary year. These projects take quite a bit of effort and some time to construct, to make sure they are successful! DGND Linda will give you some insight into that in a few minutes when she talks about the cleft palate center.
