3 What is CuCMS? CuCMS is software designed to facilitate the creation and management of web sites by addressing several core concerns: Store, edit and publish files of any type Maintain history of file changes Recognize relationships between files and directory structures Enforce access controls to projects and files Allow separation of design from content Use uPortal as the platform for management functions

4 CuCMS Framework CuCMS is comprised of a set of interrelated technological components: Storage system Publishing Engine Content Manager channel for uPortal Content Editor channels for uPortal including XML, Dublin Core, Upload/Download . . .

CuCMS 1.0 was released in December, 2002 Key Features XML based content storage for adaptability, reuse, speed of development XSL Transformations to allow multiple output forms of XML content XML Includes to minimize data redundancy Integrated with uPortal Groups & Permissions Publish files to remote servers via FTP

Columbia University is committed to the ongoing development of CuCMS, and we have begun to identify collaborators at other institutions who would like to participate.
