The 7% rule – Based on the findings of Dr Albert Mehrabian research studies in 1971 and much debated – I use this as an example of the visual impact of a pie chart and how this gets a message across. Reinforcement method Let the slide speak Let the slide move On time Set up Relax Get ready Don’t stand in front of the screen Know your subject Have cue cards Reinforcement method – state your message – then click up the slide – this reinforces the points you are making Let the slide speak – you don’t have to always say what is on the slide. Particularly if there is a picture of a graph etc. It can also reduce your nerves by managing your thoughts.
