7 HOW CREDITS WORK Each SEMESTER course = 0.5 credit
Each YEARLONG course = 1.0 credit Each freshmen student will be in at least 7 of the 8 offered periods. Freshmen may take 8 courses each semester.

10 HIGHER EDUCATION ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
English – 4 years Mathematics – 4 years (Algebra 1 & higher) Science - 3 years (two years must be lab based) Social Studies – 3 years (at least one year of U.S. or World History) Foreign Language – 1 year (2 - 3 recommended) Academic Electives/Cores – 2 years

11 COLLEGE CREDIT OPTIONS
Advanced Placement (AP) College credit determined by the college/university based on AP exam score Concurrent Enrollment High School Select: College classes available at BHS and other TSD high schools Campus Select: College classes available on the college campus Career Pathway Programs: Half-day programs for Juniors and Seniors ASCENT 12 college credits to be eligible

12 FRESHMAN RECOMMENDED COURSES (PRE-SELECTED)
English 9 or PreAP credit Math credit GeoPhysical Science or PreAP-GPS 1.0 credit Civics credit Fitness or other Fitness options credit Health or Teen Challenges credits Total credits PreAP-GeoPhysical Science and PreAP Biology have been pre-selected for STEM students totaling 5.5 required credits.

13 IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS
Do you want 7 or 8 courses each semester? Do you want a World Language course? STEM students to consider their 1.5 Career pathway (PLTW/Business) reference STEM requirements Do you want to take your required 1.0 Fine Art Rank your electives with your first choice being number 1. PLEASE USE A PENCIL TO FILL OUT YOUR FORMS

16 ALTERNATE COURSES We work diligently to give you your first choices.
If your electives are not available we will move to your alternate choices. Again, please choose wisely because if you ask for it you will be required to keep it. If you do not select alternates, we will choose for you and you will not be able to change courses at a later date.

Access your IC portal account to get started. The course description book can be found online on the district website to assist with your choices.

Log on to your Infinite Campus Portal Account Click on Course registration BHS 19’- 20’ tab (in menu on left)

23 SEARCH FOR COURSES BY NAME OR COURSE NUMBER

24 READ ABOUT THE SELECTED COURSE AND THEN CLICK “REQUEST THIS COURSE”

25 CHECK YOUR LIST OF “REQUESTED COURSES”
Continue entering courses until you have a full schedule. 16/16 course units will give you 8 courses each semester. i.e: 14/16 courses= 7 courses each semester

26 ENTER 4 ALTERNATIVE COURSES (IN PRIORITY)
Click on the “Request as an Alternate”

27 IF YOU MAKE A MISTAKE, NO BIG DEAL
Click on the course that you’d like to delete and then select “Drop This Request”

28 REGISTRATION TIMELINE
Wednesday, Jan 30th– HS counselors to TMS to answer student questions regarding the registration process. Sunday, Feb 3rd-Families will have completed the 2 PART registration process at home. Monday, Feb 4th and Tuesday,Feb. 5th – HS counselors to Turner to pick up completed paper registration forms and lock in online requests. Students from other middle schools please contact your counselor to set up a meeting so we can answer your questions, turn in your forms and lock in your requests. If you ask for a course and get it…you will keep it. So choose wisely. Schedules will be available online two days before classes begin in August.
