In the rainforest biome the leaves are pointed with drip tips (1) These drip tips channel the water off the leaf to stop it from rotting in the heavy rains (2). The tallest emergent trees are supported by buttress roots (1). The roots anchor the trees in place in the shallow soils and draw nutrients from the top layer (2).
