9. You can usually find a tone by asking these three questions:
Tone refers to an author’s use of words and writing style to convey his or her attitude towards a topic. Tone is often defined as what the author feels about the subject. What the reader feels is known as the mood.
You can usually find a tone by asking these three questions: 
Why was this written?
Who is the intended audience?
What does the author want the reader to learn, understand, or think about?
In formal writing, your tone should be clear, concise, confident, and courteous.
In informal writing, your tone is more subjective, but you should always aim to communicate clearly. Genre sometimes determines the tone.

14. In literature, mood is a literary element that evokes certain feelings or vibes in readers through words and descriptions.
Mood is developed in a literary piece through various methods.

Though mood and tone are related and often confused, they are very different literary devices. Tone refers to the author’s attitude toward the work, while the definition of mood is that it is the emotions provoked in the reader. The difference can be understood in this way: tone is how the author feels, while mood is how the reader feels.
