How does my study environment impact my achievement?

3 Do now! Bell Ringer: 01/08/19 Where do you study when you are at home?
Knowing what you know now about your preferred learning style, how does this benefit or not benefit your learning? Example, if you learned you work best with lots of light but you sit in a room with not a lot of light, this is not beneficial.

4 Study Environment Your study environment should be one that makes you feel comfortable and support your goal of getting your work done. Consider location, lighting, comfort, noise and distractions Do all our study environments have to look the same? Do you have a study space area at home?

5 Study Area Create your own personal space
It does not have to be elaborate It needs to be organize It needs to have good lighting What are some benefits to an organized space?

6 Study Area 2. Keep the area free of distractions Turn off the TV
Turn off your phone Only have tabs open on your computer that you need for the assignment Ask your family to resist distracting you when you are in your study area

7 Practice Focusing Experiment
There are going to be ten words on the next slide that you will have 20 seconds to memorize. Once the 20 seconds is up, the words will diasppear and you will write down what you remember Since we are practicing focus, put away distractions an be quiet Do not shout the words out once the disappear

Schedule time in your day. *Remember time management? Make it as consistent of a time as possible Use that time, even if you do not have any work and do something productive

14 Think Pair Share Write down five things at you need in a study environment to help you be successful. Turn to someone next to you and share your list once completed. Discuss the differences on your list. Explain why these five things are important to you.
