Monday August 27th - WOW = Retrospect - define
Learning Targets: I can follow classroom expectations. Set up Google Classroom - 1st (fkxtq9o), 2nd (ya5rhm), 4th (awc4z4m) Activating Strategy (Chromebooks - must respond to one student): Fast Five - write down the first five words that come to your mind about yourself. - You will be sharing these! Core Vocabulary (define w/Chromebooks) - expectation, consequence, accountability, responsibility, respect, diversity. Schoolnet Pre-assessment (Chromebooks) - 9th grade (DE5TY8) Learning style assessment (8th) - Review Syllabus - MUST BE SIGNED AND RETURNED BY FRIDAY, 8/31 Exit Assignment - hashtag one thing you learned, want to learn more about, or didn’t understand. This can be done on the board, no more than 3 at a time, or on a sheet of paper if you do not want to be in front of the class. Make sure you write your name under your hashtag. - THIS IS REQUIRED EVERYDAY, UNLESS STATED OTHERWISE.

Tuesday August 28th - Retrospect - use it in a sentence about yourself
Learning Targets: I can respect others and their opportunity to learn. Activating Strategy: If you were a teacher, what methods would you use to teach the class? How would you keep them engaged? How would you handle discipline issues? Core Vocabulary (use each in a sentence) - expectation, consequence, accountability, responsibility, respect, diversity. 8th grade BOY benchmark? Review anchor charts and other aids around the classroom Behavior expectations, examples, and models - see slide Student made rules and expectations (for self and others) Student index card - for me to see/keep only Exit Assignment - hashtag one thing you learned, want to learn more about, or didn’t understand. Wednesday August 29th - Retrospect
Learning Target: I can model positive behaviors during procedures and set examples for others. VIsit Media Center to get library books Activating Strategy: “About Me” essay: If you had me last year, write about what you learned from last year, how you’ve changed or grown, what you need to continue to work on, and what your goals for this year are. If we are new to one another, tell me about yourself. Where you are from, siblings, your life goals, what you like to do, something you’ve gone through in life (if you want), and things you need to work on personally. Core Vocabulary (create a wordle for each word - a visual with connecting/related words all around the main vocab word) - expectation, consequence, accountability, responsibility, respect, diversity. Grammar review Exit Assignment

Thursday August 30th - Retrospect
Learning Target: I can identify literary terms while reading. Activating Strategy: Describe, but do not name your favorite teacher. What qualities did that have and what did they do to help you learn and grow? Core Vocabulary (examples - could be a picture, a synonym, the definition in your own words, or an example of each word) - expectation, consequence, accountability, responsibility, respect, diversity. Turn in any signed guide Turn in “About Me” essay Set up study book Literary terms assessment (to see what you know) Exit assignment

Friday August 31st - Retrospect
Learning Target: I can utilize basic grammatical rules while writing. Activating Strategy: Summarize your first week in your new classes. What did you like and what goals do you have for your classes or school year? Vocab assessment Syllabus assessment Learning style assessment Turn in guide Exit Assignment: On a sheet of paper, answer the following and turn it into the box: In retrospect, what could you have done better this week? What went well? How will you progress or improve next week?

Discuss what it means and what it looks like Consequences Character - what is it? Entering and leaving procedures Expressing oneself procedure Conflict with students or teacher Phone call expectations Guest expectation Teacher needs Student needs Language expectations Moving around classroom expectation Student made rules and expectations (for self and others) In teams, you will create 3 rules/expectations that you would want others to follow in the classroom. Each team will stand and share their ideas. When done, we will collectively agree on the top 3 student made rules. THESE IDEAS MUST BE SENSIBLE AND CONDUCIVE TO THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT!
