RULES It is played with two groups of five
Players are allowed to touch the ball only with their hands The aim is to shoot the ball through the basket as often as possible in the 40 minutes of the match The total attack time of a group is 24 seconds If the score is equal at the end of the game the teams continue on a five minute extension and so on Each team haw five players at any time in the field, while another seven players can be used during a match, making changes

A team has only 8 seconds to pass the ball at the half court Each match lasts 4 periods of equal duration Between 1st and 2nd ,as well as between 3rd and 4th , a 2 minute break takes place. Between the 2nd and 3rd period, there is a 15 minute break Each coach has the right to call his players on the bench to give them instructions, four times in the match In the field there is the three point line After foul or technical penalty the shooting is for 1 point

INFRINGEMENTS Foul: The violent harassment of a player by an opponent, in a way that escapes from the sporting frames. The defender can prevent the attacker using only his body. When an athlete who has five fouls in a match is eliminated and can not return to the field. Steps: When a player does over two steps without dribbling or when the player moves his legs after he stops holding the ball with both hands Technical penalty: in case of bad behavior of athlete or coach If a player stops dribbling then he can not re start it because this is considered as steps

TEAM GAMES Competition Adaptations
Following are adaptations of FIBA and NGB rules which may be used when conducting Special Olympics basketball team competitions. These adaptations are optional, and it remains the responsibility of each individual Special Olympics Program to determine whether they will be employed.

OFFICIAL BASKETBALL RULES (SPECIAL OLYMPICS 2011)
Length of game may be adjusted at the discretion of the competition manager A player may take two steps beyond what is permitted by NGB rules. However, if the player scores, is deemed to have “traveled” or escapes the defense as a result of these additional steps, an advantage has been gained. A violation is called immediately The free throw shooter shall release the ball within 10 seconds from the time it is placed at the shooter’s disposal by one of the officials

Team and Players A team shall consist of five players.
The composition of a team, including substitutes, may not exceed 10 players. Point of emphasis: It is a violation for a player to double dribble.

Games include two half periods Each half has a duration of 13 minutes of mixed time Each extension has a duration of four minutes The break between the half-lengths lasts ten minutes (in special cases it can be also 15 minutes) In case of an extension, it will start 2 minutes after the end of the regular match

The game clock It stops in the last minute of the 1st half, in the last 2 minutes of the 2nd half, as in the last minute of the extension, in all whistles and baskets. After a successful basket the clock begins when the ball is legally touched within the field. It stops during free throws and in any unusual delay Time out Each team has four sixty second time-outs. They can be requested at any time

ADJUSTMENTS OF RULES AND BASIC INSTRACTIONS
There are 10 seconds for the free shot During the execution of free shots, there are allowed up to six players in the designated positions of the racket area. Opponent of the player which performs a free shot he cannot pretend to win an offense There is no the 24 second rule T-shirts are allowed if they have a single coloration and their color is the same with the basic color of the jersey If a player is going to wear a medical device during the game, he must be improved in advance. This includes any device worn covering the face, the forearm(from elbow to wrist), the knee or the foot. A doctor’s document that shows the purpose and composition of the device will help assess any risk management issues
