YOU HAVE STYLE!
2
Bits and Bobs that you should know.
Use past tense. Ex: King Henry doesn’t GO to the bathroom, he WENT! One inch margins all around (I own a ruler.) Select a font that is easily readable. I prefer Times New Roman. Double spaced 12 pt. font
3
Footnote Reminders All typing software footnotes for you. Learn it and use it! Chicago Style! Same source, same paragraph, same footnote. Don’t “over note” by putting a # after every sentence, unless you are citing different sources. But when you start a new para, start footnoting again even though it is the same source as used in the prior para. Do not assign a # to a source. Footnote #s start with 1 and go on forever: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
4
Footnotes You only need to type the entire footnote source ONCE. (in addition to having typed it differently for the bibliography) After that, use Ibid. when citing the same source you have just referred to. Ex: Smith followed by Smith = Ibid., 25. Latin “ibidem” = in the same place Use Op. Cit., when referring to sources used earlier. Ex: Smith, Jones, Smith = Smith, op. cit., 30. Latin “opere citato” = in the work cited

Bibliography Type this early on. Trying to type this complex, detailed document at 3:00 am will kill you. Single space the entries and double space between them. Indent all lines of the entry following the first. Alphabetize by last name (no numbers, no bullets, etc.)
