2. Working Alone Vehicle breakdowns Work on water / ice
A person is alone at work when they are on their own; when they cannot be seen or heard by another person; and when they cannot expect a visit from another worker.
Environmental field sampling is hazardous due to the presence of activities such as:
Isolated locations with limited access
Vehicle breakdowns
Work on water / ice
Risk of animal attacks (i.e. black bears)
