Studying Genesis Genesis 22: The Great Test

The Great Moment Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? You see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected; and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "AND ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS," and he was called the friend of God James 2:21-23 While Paul regards the beginning of faith in Abraham with his belief in God, James makes it clear faith was perfected at this moment

Mount Moriah Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the LORD had appeared to his father David, at the place that David had prepared on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite Chronicles 3:1 It seems that this mount was the same that David would sacrifice to appease God and Solomon would build the temple

God’s Test “for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me“ "If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple” Luke 14:26 Sometimes the Bible uses anthromorphic language in God’s conversations. It may not be that God did not know, but that it was necessary to be proven

Isaac as the Christ By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was offering up his only begotten son; it was he to whom it was said, "IN ISAAC YOUR DESCENDANTS SHALL BE CALLED." He considered that God is able to raise people even from the dead, from which he also received him back as a type Hebrews 11:17-19

Isaac as You and I And you brethren, like Isaac, are children of promise Galatians 4:28 Jehovah-Jireh – God will see (to it) "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life” John 3:16 Isaac as a type of the Christian – he was set to die, but another takes His place Christ as the Ram Abraham named this place: The Lord Will Provide on this Mountain

Isaac as You and I And you brethren, like Isaac, are children of promise Galatians 4:28 Jehovah-Jireh – God will see (to it) The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29 Isaac as a type of the Christian – he was set to die, but another takes His place Christ as the Ram Abraham named this place: The Lord Will Provide on this Mountain

Covenant of Abraham For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's descendants, heirs according to promise Galatians 3:27-29
