PRESSURE EQUIPMENT REPAIRS API 510/570 and ASME PCC-2 are both PCCs
Repairs can be to either the original construction code OR a Post-Construction code (PCC) API 510 /570/653 ASME PCC-2 API 510/570 and ASME PCC-2 are both PCCs API 510 /570/653
2
API CODES ANS ASME PCC-2 HAVE SOME DIFFERENT PRINCIPLES
Post construction code API 570:Pipework API 510:Vessels API 653:Storage tanks These define various types of repair as either temporary or permanent This contains more detailed instructions but doesn’t define any technique as temporary or permanent. You decide.
3
API Definitions for piping repairs TEMPORARY PERMANENT
Excavate and blend in/repair Full split sleeve or fillet-welded patch Flush insert patch Weld overlay
4
API TEMPORARY REPAIRS HAVE RESTRICTIONS Sleeve or fillet-welded repair
The base (and repair) material must have a UTS of less than 40ksi(275.8 MPA)
5
THERE ARE ALWAYS RESTRICTIONS ON PATCH SPACING
Minimum toe-toe spacing is specified to limit HAZ interaction
6
ASME PCC-2 gives repair design methods
It also covers non-welding (composite) and mechanical clamps ASME PCC-2 API 510 /570/653
