English Instructions – using imperatives and including deeper descriptions for clarity Legends – identifying audience and purpose, using a wide range of vocabulary and sentence structures Comprehension –developing understanding of different genres of text and honing retrieval and inference skills Guided Reading – Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief Spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPaG) AT HOME: Reading every day Practicing handwriting Maths Multiplication and Division – area models, multiplying numbers by 2 and 3 digits, dividing by 1 digit, dividing with a remainder Fractions: using knowledge of division to understand proper and improper fractions, adding and subtracting fractions Decimals and Percentages: up to 2 decimal places, rounding, ordering and comparing decimals and percentages AT HOME: Times tables practice every day – this will help with all maths work RE In RE this term we will be looking at mission, and what it means to have a mission, and how we can follow Jesus’ mission. We will also be looking at the Eucharist and being living memorials for Jesus. As a class we will be looking at Easter and discussing the sacrifices that Jesus made for us and the impact they have on the lives of those who believe. Topic 4: Domestic Church – Mission Topic 5: Eucharist – Relating Topic 6: Easter - Giving Topic What Price Progress? In our topic this term we will be looking at Anglo-Saxons, and how life has changed over time. We will be looking at Forces in Science, and how technology and modern comforts have evolved over time. In History we will be focusing on the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings, and their struggle in the settlement of Britain. Reading This year we are putting a large focus on reading, and promoting reading for pleasure. Please make sure that the children are reading their books at home, and any support you can offer them in listening to them read is greatly appreciated. If the children do any work at home related to anything they have read, we would love to see it! Homework Homework will be sent home each Monday for the children to work on over the course of the week. There will be times tables and a Maths worksheet each week, as well as one other piece, focusing on future learning, or something that proved difficult during lesson time. It will be due back on the Friday. The children will also be expected to be reading at home every day.
