2. AWS Instance Considerations
Saas
End-user applications delivered as a service rather than on-premise
= Applications- Windows Server, Microsoft SQL Server, etc..
Iaas
Compute, storage and other IT infrastructure as a service
= Hardware – Virtual machine, processors, ram, storage, etc..
Reduces complexity of deployments
Will need to bring your own ESRI Enterprise license

3. AWS Instance Considerations
ArcGIS Server Licenses
/Basic /Standard /Advanced
Number of Cores – 4 core common
Minimum 4 core instance with 31GB Ram
AWS Instance (
/R5a.xlarge /Server 2016 /2.2Ghz 4-core/31GB
Lots of storage space recommended especially if planning a cache
Recommendation – C:\ 500GB D:\ 1TB or more for /cache /data /backups

4. Deployment Considerations
Amazon Web Services

AMI Installs and configures ArcGIS Server /Portal /Data Store
AMI deployed during Instance creation
Manual Deployment
Administrator manually installs and configures everything
Less clutter
Software you don’t need

5. Deployment Considerations
Security
New web security certificate /.cer Invoked through IIS /.csr
New DNS entry (
Apply service packs
Other
Install SQL Server Client x64
AMI will configure security options /ports /firewall
Secure your server /Windows Defender /FortiClient etc..

6. Installation Install ArcGIS Enterprise Specify Windows account
Run as administrator
Specify Windows account

Password keep simple no special characters

7. Post Installation Post installation ArcGIS Enterprise
ArcGIS Server Manager launches
Web browser will not recognize security certificate (localhost)
Continue to the website

Create new site or Join existing site
Be patient

When you federate a server, authorization to access the services delegates to the portal. This means the following occur:
You access ArcGIS Server using portal members—ArcGIS Server users and roles are no longer used. Portal administrators, publishers, and users become ArcGIS Server administrators, publishers, and users, respectively.
Access to ArcGIS Server services is controlled by the portal's sharing model— Every ArcGIS Server service you publish to your federated server is automatically shared as an item in the portal. The sharing model of the portal allows you to keep the service private to its publisher, or shared with one or more groups of portal users.

Manual is tedious but rewarding
Minimum of two(2) VMs – One Production – One Development
Now the real work begins – Populating Servers w/data
