Children are to obey because it pleases the Lord
An assumption that these children want to please the Lord
Parents - Don’t provoke, irritate, make life harder than it needs to be

Bondservants (or slaves) were very different in the 1st century to what we normally think
Paul is less interested in politics, and more in people living for Christ where they are
We’re to work to please God not people
If we’re bosses we’re to remember we too have a master
