Instructions BACK UP WORK
All work is expected to be present in this assignment. If you have lost or not done an assignment your are expected to redo the assignment. This is part of your final grade so the amount and quality of writing must be of a high standard and show evidence of true reflections. You have 18 weeks to do this so it should reflect 18 weeks of thought and commitment. All photos must be clear and not stretched or distorted in any way. Maintain the correct proportions of photos and DO NOT use them as backgrounds to the slide. Crop out all other backgrounds so that your art is the only thing we see. Pictures of sculptures should have a blank background such as a sheet that contrast in colour from work. For example, if the sculpture is dark brown use a white sheet etc. Do not add fancy text or animation to the presentation. The purpose is to show off your work so either keep this background or use black or white – keep it simple! Remember that font size is not to be bigger than 14 and single spaced. If you need additional space make another slide. Save this file and simple copy and paste the slide you need each time for a new project. Check the last slide to see how you will be graded. Upon submitting your file, remove all unnecessary slides such as this one and the example slides. Double click on you pictures and compress them. YOU MUST HAVE A PRINTED OUTLINE OF THE PRESENTATION Just the handout is need with all the text I do not need colour photos, or print outs of entire slides. YOU MUST HAVE A DIGITAL COPY IN THE DESIGNATED GOODLE DRIVE FOLDER DUE 14th Dec ABSOLUTELY NO ACCEPTIONS

Before & After Self-Portrait
Purpose: To allow a comparison of my work to show how far I have improved. To learn the grid transformation system. I studied how to draw individual features such as noses, eyes, lips, heads, hair, and ears and then use those skills to produce a realistic self-portrait. It also taught me how to create realistic value studies. Strengths: I Weaknesses: Identify and explain the weaknesses of this work. Remember to communicate as an artist. Reflection: Give serious thought to what you would do differently with this project if you could redo it for a better grade.

Sample of writing standards – Spheres and Ladders
Purpose: The purpose of this project was an introduction to painting and continuing to learn how to apply shading techniques and perspective but now in painting. We were to create a checkerboard pattern in perspective surrounded by spheres which had to overlap, show size variations, color variations as in atmospheric perspective. All this had to be achieved while abiding by the rules of composition that we learned about, for example, no “X” elements through middle of the page and not having elements running off into all the corners. The ultimate was to create a painting that leads the viewer’s eyes into and around the picture. Strengths: My strengths are that my spheres look realistic and that my checkerboard is in perspective which created good visual flow through the visual beats of the spheres reducing ion size across the composition. Weaknesses: My weaknesses are that my green sphere looks like it isn’t shaded properly because of it’s placement and I didn’t account for the parts of the checkerboard in the background that would show through the spaces in the top layer is it rotates. Reflection: If I could redo this project, I would place the green sphere higher so that its center isn’t exactly behind the point that the ladder flips, and I would blend the colors in the violet sphere more smoothly. Adding another ladder could have helped create better negative spaces also. Overall I believe this project turned out well.
