2. Timed Essay
As soon as you walk in to the room, take a packet from each station.
Get out nothing but a pencil.
Begin your 45 minute timed essay as soon as you sit down.
READ THE PROMPT FIRST! Make sure to figure out exactly what they are wanting (talk to your customer).
THEN READ THE PASSAGE AND ANNOTATE! Mark only the things you want to use in your essay, and make sure you know why you marked them (pick out and save the grey bricks, not the red bricks).
WRITE DOWN THE OUTLINE FORMAT ON YOUR SCRATCH PAPER! Remember bing, bang, bongo (set the foundation and frame of the house).
FILL IN YOUR MAIN IDEAS! Write it beside where you wrote “Main idea” and be sure to address the prompt (put the roof on the house).
FILL IN YOUR BING, BANG, AND BONGO STATEMENTS! These are your main three points of why you chose your main idea (build the walls).
FILL IN YOUR EVIDENCE, FACTS, AND EXAMPLES! Go back to your passage and quickly grab the information you annotated and plug it in to the right places in your outline (put in the tile, paint the walls, install the sinks, plant flowers, etc.).
MAKE SURE YOUR OUTLINE IS COMPLETE AND IN A LOGICAL ORDER! Make sure you have your bing, bang, and bongo well supported and your paragraphs are in a logical order (inspect the house).
WRITE DOWN YOUR ESSAY IN THE WRITING PACKET! Write neatly to where I am able to read it.
