1 “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.” Good Afternoon, Greetings… Brothers and sisters we have an unyielding adversary that is bent on destroying the church. When I think of this great enemy of ours and God I’m reminded of a timely quote by Sun Tzu in “The Art of War.” (SLIDE) The idea here is that if we want to defeat our enemy, Satan, we have to think like him sometimes to counter attack. Thus we are going to look today at…(SLIDE)

2 If I Were THE DEVIL

3 I Would Serve My Own Interests Above The Church
If I Were THE DEVIL Paul warns against this very thing in His inspired letter to the Philippians.(SLIDE)

4 Philippians 2:3-4 “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” If I were the devil I would seek my own interests above all others. Brothers and sisters may it never be said that the church suffered because of our pride or selfishness.

5 I Would Advocate Compromise
If I Were THE DEVIL There are three phrases that have led to the spiritual demise of more congregations than can be counted in the area of compromise. Instead of seeking Bible authority they say devilish things like…

6 Do you think God will send us to Hell for simply…?
What’s the big deal…? What’s so bad about…? Do you think God will send us to Hell for simply…? If I were the devil I would seek compromise over Bible authority every time and I would ignore all the Scriptures that state otherwise by calling them “your opinion.” Brethren once again may it never be the case that I or anyone here ever compromise on the truth for anything or anyone!!! (SLIDE)

7 2 John 9-11 “Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting, 11 for whoever greets him takes part in his wicked works.” If I were the devil I would seek my own interests above all others. Brothers and sisters may it never be said that the church suffered because of our pride or selfishness.

8 If I Were THE DEVIL Brothers and sister we must continually make certain we are not working as an operative for the Devil but rather we are operating as a soldier for Christ.
