What are they? the words : me you it him her us them When these words are the object of the main verb

Direct object pronouns are used all of the time to avoid repetition. Eg. Do you like meat? No, I hate it I hate it object of the verb hate pronoun (replaces noun meat)

Using DOPs ¿Ves la tele? 1 Find the object 2 Work out what the DOP is.. la 3 Put the DOP immediately BEFORE the verb Sí, la veo

Using DOPs with infinitives No puedo ver el hombre 1 Find the object 2 Work out what the DOP is.. lo 3 Put the DOP immediately BEFORE the conjugated verb No lo puedo ver 4 Alternatively, tag the DOP on to the END of the infinitive No puedo verlo

Here are examples of the direct object pronoun attached directly to the infinitive: Quiero verlo. I want to see it. Debemos comprarlo. We should buy it. María debe visitarnos. Mary should visit us. Juan necesita lavarlo. John needs to wash it Using DOPs with infinitives

The same thing happens with questions…. 1 Either tag the DOP to the infinitive OR… 2 Put the DOP immediately BEFORE the conjugated verb ¿Lo debemos comprar? ¿Debemos comprarlo?

Using DOPs You have actually been using a DOP for some time, without knowing it!! ¡Lo pasé bomba!
