God’s Gym (Why it is important to get together with other Christians every chance you get)
8
Why is it HARD to Be Faithful
Hard to do the right thing all the time Hard to give up what I ought not do Hard to constantly meet with Christians
9
Christianity = Physical Fitness
Also if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not win the prize unless he competes according to the rules Timothy 2:5
10
Christianity = Physical Fitness
Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable Corinthians 9:25

Christianity = Physical Fitness
For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come Timothy 4:8

Christianity = Physical Fitness
For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come Timothy 4:8 Here it is clear – being a Christian is much like exercising the body
13
Christianity = Physical Fitness
1. It hurts at first 2. It takes time to see changes 3. It takes diligence to succeed 4. Stopping ends the results
14
At First is Worst Strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying, "Through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.“ Acts 14:22 Discussion: exercising is hardest at first
15
At First is Worst Our first trials may be hardest
Some “when they hear the word, immediately receive it with joy; and they have no firm root in themselves, but are only temporary; then, when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, immediately they fall away” Mark 4:16-17 Going to the gym at first is worst. You may get sick, or hurt real bad. Breaking in your body is hard; breaking in the “New an” is hard too
16
Real Change Takes Time Spiritual changes do not happen overnight Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:12 Discussion: change does not happen overnight. It takes weeks or months to change.
17
Real Change Takes Time Spiritual changes do not happen overnight Faith is the only way to perceive change Discuiss: Comment that it took 5 years for everything to become habitual and “easy”

The Need for Endurance We need to learn to keep at our works Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised. Hebrews 10:35-36 Exercise is not a “once for all” thing. You have to keep at it. So it is with God
19
The Need for Endurance We need to learn to keep at our works Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. Galatians 6:9
20
The Need for Endurance We need to learn to keep at our works Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58

Quitters Lose Everything
Stopping loses all of our progress For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. 2 Peter 2:20 What happens when you quit exercising? Everything you worked for is lost.
22
Quitters Lose Everything
Some quitters are only half-hearted tryers - Once a month at the gym is WORSE - Now and then Christians work hardest Eventually all part-time uncommitted quite - True in Christ too - Revelation 3:16 Re 3:16 'So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.
23
Action To succeed as a Christian requires 100% - Every chance you get - Every time you can Be patient and it will pay off Don’t quit and lose everything Story of the man looking for a congregation. When asking around, many said to tithe. He finally found a church where he was told he would have to give everuthing. This was good, since he knew he was only going to get out of it what he put into it.

Joining the Gym Imagine you want to join a gym - Membership fees are too much! -What if someone else paid for it? Membership: - Application - Expectation Mt 23:16 "Woe to you, blind guides, who say, 'Whoever swears by the temple, that is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple is obligated.'17 "You fools and blind men! Which is more important, the gold or the temple that sanctified the gold? 18 "And, 'Whoever swears by the altar, that is nothing, but whoever swears by the offering on it, he is obligated.' 19 "You blind men, which is more important, the offering, or the altar that sanctifies the offering? 20 "Therefore, whoever swears by the altar, swears both by the altar and by everything on it. 21 "And whoever swears by the temple, swears both by the temple and by Him who dwells within it.
