Welcome to Integrated Math 9

Integrated Math 9 Integrated Math 9 will build upon the concepts of Algebra Concepts. This course is paced to allow students to obtain a deeper understanding of the concepts of Algebra for the students needing remediation. This course stresses the basic algebra skills and problem solving techniques. Topics include: integers, exponents, formulas, properties of real numbers, functions, statistics and solving and graphing linear equations and inequalities.

Classwork/Homework There will be a considerable amount of homework and class work assigned through the semester. Checked daily Graded on completeness on a scale of 0 to 4 Students usually receive time in class to begin assignments but will complete at home if not finished before leaving. Students must show work to receive full credit. Just answers is not complete.

Make Up Work If absent, students are responsible to obtain the notes and assignments missed during the absence. Students will have 3 days to make up missed work due to an absence. In complete assignments may be made up for partial credit but is due the day after the original assignment due date. Make up work can be found in your classes make up folder. Notes can be found on my webpage or you may copy them from a classmate.

Quizzes Quizzes will be announced before hand.
Quizzes will assess students knowledge of up to 4 sections taught. Quizzes will not consist of more than 20 questions. Students are expected to review all materials given for quizzes. Reviews will not be given for quizzes. If students are absent, they will make up the quiz on the day they return.

PDN’s PDN’s are given daily unless a test or quiz is given.
Students are to complete the PDN when they enter the classroom. PDN’s are to completed in a separate notebook with the number and date on top. PDN’s will be checked weekly for a quiz grade. To receive full credit, students must copy the question and show all necessary work to complete the problem. PDN’s will be reviewed with students after attendance and homework has been checked.

Tests Tests will be announced at least 3 days in advanced.
Students will be given a review sheet to complete. Test will assess student knowledge on all material covered in a chapter/unit. If absent the day of the review, students will take the test the next day after their return. If absent the day of the test, students will take the test the day they return to class.

Class Conduct Students will each receive a class conduct grade; this is monitor students behavior in the classroom. Each student will begin each quarter with a 100% as a class conduct grade. This grade will count as a test grade for each quarter. Students will lose points for inappropriate behaviors in the classroom. 1 point for being late 1 point for being unprepared 5 points for sleeping in class 3 points for disrupting class 5 points for not handing in cell phone

Projects Students will be assigned projects throughout the semester.
Projects will count as a test grade. Projects may be assigned to be completed outside of school. Projects can be both individual or group. Students will be provided with directions and rubrics to complete the project. Students must hand in project with all requirements by the due day to receive full credit; failure to do so will result in loss of points.

Midterm/Final Students will take both a midterm and final on the scheduled date The midterm will cover the material covered in the first half of the semester. The final will cover the material covered in the second half of the semester. Students will receive a review sheet for both of these assessments.

Extra Credit Extra Credit will be given at the teachers discretion.

Rules 1. Arrive on time and prepared for class with book, pencil, and necessary materials. 2. Respect yourself and others. Do not use vulgar or offensive language toward anyone. 3. Cellphones must be placed in the assigned pocket daily. No earbuds. 4. Be attentive and respectful during notes and when others are speaking. 5. Begin the day by quietly entering the classroom, reporting to your assigned seat and beginning the PDN.

Procedures Entering the classroom
Students must enter the classroom on time Students should have all required materials necessary for class when entering - Ask to borrow or sharpening pencils before class begins - Students will not be permitted to go to locker after bell ringers for forgotten material When entering students must get their assigned calculator Students will place their cellphone in the assigned pocket Students are to sit in assigned seats and copy and complete PDN

Procedures When you are Late Give your pass to me
Sit quietly and pick up where the rest of the class is. Your class conduct grade will be affected.

Procedures Classroom Materials
Students will be assigned a number that will correspond to their textbook, calculator, cell phone pocket, and laptop. Students are to report any material missing or damage immediately. Students are responsible for materials in class and will be held accountable for damage or loss.

Procedures Cellphones
Students will placed their cellphone in their assigned pocket. Students will not be given warnings about cell phone use in the classroom. Students will have cellphone immediately confiscated and taken to their grade level office if seen during class. Students will also lose 5 points from their class conduct grade.

Procedures PDN’s Students will complete a PDN Daily unless a test/quiz is scheduled Students will complete PDN in their PDN notebooks PDN’s will be checked weekly for a quiz grade Each PDN must be labeled with number and date To receive full credit for PDN’s students must have problem and solution copied You are responsible for PDN’s even if you are absent; you may copy the PDN from myself or another classmate PDN’s are eligible material for all assessments.

Procedures Instruction
During instruction students are to remain quiet and focused during lessons. Students are to raise hand to ask/answer questions. Students are to copy all notes as practice and assessment questions are similar to examples Students will not be permitted to use lavatory during instruction unless a true emergency.

Procedures Lavatory Use/Leaving Classroom
Students are asked to use the lavatory/leave the classroom at the beginning of class or during time given to begin assignments. Students will not be permitted to leave during instruction unless it is an actual emergency. To leave the classroom, students must have a pass. Bathroom privileges will be revoked if abused.

Procedures Classwork/Homework
Students will usually be given time in class to complete classwork or homework. Students are required to work on the assignment until the class is dismissed.

Procedures End of Class
Students are dismissed by the teacher not the bell. Students are to remain in seat until dismissed. Students are not to line up at the door. Students are asked to make sure calculators are returned and area around assigned seat is clean. - I am not your mother and I will not clean up after you!!

Tutoring I am available to meet with students before homeroom Monday, Thursday, and Friday. Students need to notify me the day before that they will be coming. I highly suggest students that are struggling to take advantage of this opportunity. Do not wait until you are to far behind that you cannot catch up! There is also after school student tutoring on Tuesday and Thursday in the Library.
