Your brain wants to just add on 20% to get the normal price
Your brain wants to just add on 20% to get the normal price. Lets try it... 10% = £520 so 20% = £1040 Add it on to £5200 gives £6240 as the normal price Really common WRONG answer. Work backwards from this answer to see it cannot be correct CHECK If the normal price was £6240 and we took 20% off we get 10% = £624, then 20% = £1248. If we reduce £6240 by £1248 we have £4992 This is not what we started with so the wrong method. Try again

It is reduced by 20% so we now have 80% In terms of money it is now worth £5200, so £5200 = 80% £650 = 10% (divide both sides of the equation by 8)

Importance of GCSE qualifications:
Universities will be looking at GCSE profile for a good many of their courses. A lot of courses will be looking at Grade 7-9 profile (A-A* in old money) as this is indicative of the A Levels AAB that they are looking for. Less students are sitting AS Levels. They could affect the career you end up doing The University of Birmingham’s medical school, for example, specifies ‘normally, applicants must offer grades 8 & 9 in each of English (either English Language or English Literature), Mathematics and all science subjects.
